• LEATHER SOURCING AND ACCESSORY DEVELOPMENT

We source leather from Veneto and Tuscany, developing belts and bags with artisans and small producers in the Padova area. Whenever possible, we use deadstock materials and vegan leather.

    MATERIAL SOURCING AND GARMENT DEVELOPMENT

We source fabrics from mills and stockists in Tuscany, Piedmont, and Lombardy. Jersey and woven pieces are produced in small batches around Veneto. Thanks to our skilled partners, we can also develop denim, swimwear and leather garments.

PRINTS AND TREATMENTS ON TEXTILES AND GARMENTS

We create prints and treatments (such as hand painting, embroidery, or appliqués) on both fabrics and finished garments. We can work with your existing designs or help develop new ones from scratch.

    OTHER CRAFTS

Since this year, we have initiated experimentation with materials beyond textiles, including metal and glass. Thanks to our collaboration with artisans specialized in traditional crafts from our region, we are now expanding our exploration to materials such as wood and ceramics.

    LOGISTICS AND COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT

We provide comprehensive support in logistics and communication management between creative offices and manufacturers. We handle the entire logistical structure, from finding the best transportation solutions to minimize unnecessary VAT or tax payment. We manage communication between all suppliers and manufacturers to prevent information loss or misunderstandings, to ensure consistency and clarity in all project interactions.

  • As a studio, we constantly explore new horizons in product development, gathering information on materials, processes, and techniques. We collaborate with creatives who share our philosophy and goals and are always open to considering any research or ideas that aligns with our vision.

Each new collaboration starts with a specific research objective related to materials or techniques. The outcomes of these synergies can vary greatly, from archive materials and samples to specialized knowledge or finished products. Each project offers a unique opportunity to innovate and expand our expertise, fostering mutual growth.

  • Maïa organizes research trips in Italy to visit its producers, explore their techniques and workshops, and provide the opportunity to closely examine their materials and products.

In addition to supporting clients during the development process, we can also arrange trips for creatives or schools interested in discovering specific materials and crafts for their projects. During the tours, it is possible to visit workshops for knitwear, leather goods, ceramics, textile companies, wool mills, stockists, finishing companies and other businesses involved in the processing and transformation of materials. These hands-on experiences are designed to deepen the understanding of craftsmanship, both during the development phase and before starting a project, offering a clearer and more informed view of the production processes.

  • Maïa is currently developing customized product development courses for designers, guiding them through the entire process—from selecting materials and techniques to final production.

Our approach is rooted in a creative process that begins with a deep understanding of artisanal craftsmanship. By focusing on technique-based design, we ensure that the creative vision is shaped by technical possibilities from the very start. Each course module is tailored to the specific needs of participants, providing a comprehensive understanding of the product and its production chain, and empowering designers with deeper industry knowledge.

These courses, still in development, often include guided visits to workshops and production facilities, as well as hands-on workshops in collaboration with our network.
